{Learning to be Content}

It has been a little over 2 years since I posted anything on this blog. I suppose blogging isn't nearly as popular as it used to be, but after looking back through some of my older posts, I miss having a little creative outlet! Plus it kept me motivated to do more crafts and projects!
I couldn't resist sharing this recent project because I, for one, am LOVING it!

{ I realized my love for painting a few weeks ago! }

I put scrapbook paper down as the base and then painted the quote on top. After the paint was dry I sealed it with 2 generous coats of Mod Podge and an Acrylic sealer on top of that to make sure this lasts...a long time!

The quote I just found on google after a little research. I knew I wanted a Jane Austen quote because after all....she is my favorite author. I believe this quote is paraphrased from the book Persuasion, but regardless it is such an awesome & inspiring quote!

 ~ "I must learn to be content with being happier than I deserve." ~

It took me a moment to actually really comprehend what this quote meant, but after I really thought about it I knew I had to use it for my canvas.

As a sinner, I deserve nothing.....Actually I do deserve something, but thats death. Thankfully, I have a Savior who loves me unconditionally and is eternally merciful to me and therefore blesses me beyond my expectations. I need to take more time to be truly thankful for what I am given!

{here today...gone tomorrow}

Yesterday evening I was a little bored!
There really wasn't anything to do and the Red Sox were losing, making the game too painful to watch!
I was in the kitchen looking for a a snack when I decided to make something that I haven't had in a long time!
No bake cookies! Have you ever tasted No Bake cookies? If not, you must - I repeat you must, copy this recipe and make them! They are absolutely divine!

No Bake Cookies

2 c. sugar
4 tbsp. cocoa
1 stick of butter
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. peanut butter
3 c. oats

Combine the first 5 ingredients in a pot over medium low heat. Keep stirring until all melted together and looks something like this:

This "melty" "chocolately" sauce looks good by itself! :) But be careful do not let it burn!

Then add in the peanut butter and stir that in until it is melted. Then add the oats. Then take off the heat and drop by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet (I line mine with wax paper/tin foil just to make sure they don't stick and clean up is a breeze!)

Place the cookie sheet into the freezer and let them set up for just a few minutes.
These are better at room temperature so.....if you can resist (which I couldn't)......let them sit a little while.

But I promise, once you make them....you will become addicted and then pretty soon the whole batch will be gone, and you will find yourself making even more! :)

{is 33 too many??}

Here's another random fact about Bethany.......
She LOVES to collect nail polish!
When I go to stores, the one place I am certain to check out before I leave is the nail polish section!
I love the different shapes of bottles, and all the different colors, and nail polish is great because, maybe you have had a hard day in the fitting room where nothing is working, or you find the most adorable shoe, and they have it in every other size except yours......well with nail polish there aren't any sizes, so it always looks great! :)

Anyways, the point is, I have quite a few nail polishes, and my collection seems to be increasing, so I wanted a fun way to display all of the colors, while still keeping it neat and organized.
My mother had this shelf she wasn't using so I nabbed it and it works great!

Now I just think I need another one to fill with more nail polish! :)

{so....where have I been?}

Well, for a short time my mom and I were privileged enough to be able to take a short trip to see relatives in NH! The weekend was amazing, but obviously seemed too short.
We got to eat the most amazing lobster! {it's kind of a tradition now!}

We played lots of fun games, including my favorites, Apples to Apples {I won!!...can you tell?}

and You've Been Sentenced! If you have never played of heard of You've Been Sentenced I highly recommend you get it! It is so much fun!

Well, we also got to take in this beautiful view, as well as getting some glimpses of these gorgeous birds!

I mentioned in my photography blog that we visited the beach for a little while, which was truly amazing & so refreshing! But I also mentioned that there was somewhere else we went.........

Hmmm......it's so hard to guess isn't it?? :)
That's right.....we were able to go to Disney!!

I felt so blessed to be able to go, and it was seriously the most fun 2 days I have had in a long time! We went to Epcot & MGM, our two favorite parks and just had a blast!
I think we all felt sort of like kids again, but that's what happens when you go to Disney!

I think maybe we were having a little too much fun in one of the gift shops!?!

God truly blessed us with two amazing weeks of vacation!

{the corkboard}

A lot of you commented and wanted to see the corkboard that I mentioned in my "Room Redo" post! I actually don't know why I didn't just show you in the first place.....I guess I just forgot to take a picture!
Anyways here is the cute little corkboard! We didn't have quite enough fabric to cover the whole thing with just one pattern, so we used two different patterns, but I think I actually like it better this way anyway. It's bright, it's bold, it's fun & as a bonus, it keeps me organized......kind of! :)

{Seeing Red}

It appears a lot of people are "seeing red"! (my mom, and a good friend)

Red is probably my favorite color (though a lot of colors are my "favorite"!)! It's so cheery and fun and to top it all of.....it's the name of my favorite baseball team! (Go Red Sox!)

Well, it was definitely time for a room redo! My mom and I originally painted my room a mint green color....but when I say mint green I mean like neon mint green! It was bright & fun at the time but after a while it started to get on my nerves! It definitely wasn't a relaxing color.
So we repainted my walls a very simple beige color and all of my accessories are red (and some brown)!

It's a much more sophisticated and mature color combo!

We went to Hobby Lobby and got all these different patterned fabrics and the white pillow is made out of the really soft fabric microfleece, I believe it's called. It's my favorite pillow! :)
We had enough fabric to also cover my cork board as well.

And we found this rug on sale for half the price so we definitely snapped it up! It covers up two holes that Jack dug into the carpet as well as adds a little pop of color!
Plus, I think Jack likes it too! :)

{a little beauty sleep....}

I guess you could say my blog was taking it's little "beauty nap"
I was trying to step back and take a break from blogging because to be honest, I felt like my blog was becoming a little boring! But maybe that's just me being me.....I tend to jump from one project to another when it gets boring!

But now that I am back, I am excited about new posts and trying to think of different projects to do and things to share with you!

Let's just hope this vitality last more than a few days!! :)
